US company is interesting to build a golf-field in the sea-side resort Albena JSC, the Chairman of the resort's Board of Directors Mr. Todor Radev announced. Representatives of the US company will visit Albena JSC in February to see the project and the places for the golf-field.

23 per cent from the capital of Albena invest holding were transferred. According to its Executive Director Mrs. Lidia Shuleva the deal is connected with the MEBO Albena 2000 that transfers its shares in the holding of the tourist complex. By this way the resort Albena has already held about 48 per cent from the capital of the former privatization fund.

The Municipal budget will take annually USD 9111 from concession rewards for the subways in Dobrich. The concessioners of the three biggest subways in the centre of the town are obliged to make investments between USD 70 000 and USD 166 000. The subways are given for 30-year deadline.

At the General Meeting which will take place on June 23, 2001, the resort complex Albena will take the decision the issue of bonds that the company launched in the beginning of August 2000 to become public. In this way the company hopes to increase additionally the attraction of its bonds and to attract the interest of the smaller investors. the company also plans to issue a second bond issue but for the time being there are not more details about its parametres and the way at which will be sold. The first bond issue of the company was for a period of 2 years, in amount of BGN 5 million with 9 per cent profitability at the base of one year. The face value of the bonds is BGN 1.

The resort complex Albena expects 165 000 tourists this season , announced Mr. Alexander Markov from the association. This is 18 per cent higher than last year. BGN 25 millions are invested for renovation of hotels. For the last year the association reported 27 per cent increse of the sales and 37 per cent increase of the profit.

The Board of Directors of Albena JSC summoned a general meeting of the shareholders on June 23 2001 at 10 o'clock. The agenda of the meeting is the following 1. The net profit of Albena JSC for 2000 is BGN 11 million which is more with BGN 3 million in comparison with 1999. At the General Meeting on June 26 will be offered to be distributed as a dividend BGN 2-3 million from the profit because the company and the resort are in a stage of active investments. Over September will continue the repair of the hotel base and the construction of 2 more swimming-pools. Albena JSC spent BGN 5 million of the voted over the last year by the shareholders bond loan of BGN 15 million. The credit will be paid back over 2002.

Albena JSC reported a net profit of BGN 11 000 000 for 2000, was reported from the resort. There was reached a growth with about BGN 3 000 000 in comparison with 1999. The economic results of the company will be analyzed at the forthcoming General Meeting on June 21. It is expected BGN 2 000 000-BGN 3 000 000 to be allocated for dividends. Probably the Board of Directors will be increased from 5 to 7 members because if the intense investment programme of the resort. At the moment in Albena are working 1200 employees and 60 of them are from Dobrich. It is expected in the summer to work 3200 employees.

10 000 Austrian pensioners rested in April and May in Albena resort. This year the summer season started in March when in the resort arrived the first tourists from Germany. Now in Albena rest over 7 000 people from Germany, Great Britain, Belgium, Holland, Russia. This year in the improvement of the infrastructure and repair of the hotel infrastructure were invested DEM 25 million.

The international airport in Brussels will renew Varna airport, was reported from the Ministry of Transport and Communications. A joint project of the Belgium and Varna airport with the resort complex Albena was presented to the Deputy Minister of Transport Mr. Apik Garabedian. This is a plan for development of the economic activity, infrastructure and modernization of Varna airport.

The Management of Albena intends to become a candidate for concession for a local yacht port in Balchik. A Russian bank whose name is kept in secret for the time being is the eventual partner in the project. The Municipal Board is expected to take a decision for the concession. The capacity of the quay that now includes 70 yachts, will be increased two times. The yacht port has to be renewed by 2003 and the idea is to be run for a period between 10 and 15 years.

Albena wants to take under concession for 30 years the yacht port in Balchik, which is property of the Municipality, announced the director of exploitation of the resort Mr. Ivan Kalinkov. Albena JSC may develop the port so that 150 yachts may stop in it. The project foresees development of yachting and competitions. The new port will be interesting for reach clients from Russia,Spain and Greece.

The General Meeting of Albena resort dismissed the whole Board of Directors together with its Chairman Mr. Todor Radev. According to Mr. Radev, Albena may reach a financial insolvency. The resort owes BGN 18 000 000 credits to banks but the loans are paid regularly. Albena JSC will distribute a dividend of BGN 0.50 per share, decided the General Meeting. The resort reports a net profit for 2000 in amount of BGN 11 600 000. 1 per cent of it will be taken by the Board of Directors as a reward. The Meeting also decided to launch a new bond loan in amount of BGN 15 000 000. The interest rate will be within 10 per cent and the maturity not longer than 10 years.

Albena intends to construct a modern holiday village near the village of Kranevo, announced the Executive Director of the company Mr. Krassimir Stanev. The complex will be situated on a ground of 110 decares that has already been bought by private farmers. The other major investment priority of the resort is the sport base where are prepared participants for the Olympic games in Athens in 2004. The plans envisage the construction of a modern sport hotel in Albena.

Know-how of the German concern Haidelberg prolonged the life of hotels in Albena at least with 30-40 years. For the first time the resort reconstructs the panels of the old buildings, announced the executive manager of construction company Albena-2000 Mr. Hristo Mitev. The resort has renovated by this technology an area of 38 500 square meters during the summer 2000. Most of the hotels in the resort are built during the period 1968-1974.

Majak JSC will open a free duty warehouse within 15 days, announced the new Chairman of the Board of Directors Mr. Milcho Kovachev. The warehouse will keep cars and cargos over the whole year. The company is constructing at the moment a parking, restaurant, gas station and service premises for its service. The Cyprus company Apachia limited has become owner of 93 per cent of the capital of Majak since October, 2000. At the General Meeting of the company was decided Majak JSC to be written off from the public register for sale of shares.

The Ministry of Healthcare announces that the following deals were concluded during the period 01 March - 03 July 2001. - Medical Center Medica - Albena SPLtd., Albena resort - 80 per cent of the capital were sold to Albena JSC for BGN 660 000, 30 per cent will paid in cash in the day when the contract is concluded and the other 70 per cent will be paid in all legal forms of payment.

20 journalists from the Television in Varna RD were dismissed by the Executive director Mr. Borislav Borisov. The television ceases its activity and will be sold. Television RD is a property of Glas SPLtd hold by Mrs. Kostandinka Tzvetkova. The company is a sole proprietor of Alfa Radio as well. During March the owner moved the head-office of Alfa Radio and started the project for Radio-television Alfa-RD.

Investors from Israel and Saudi Arabia are interested in buying the hotel Zamaka Hrankov in Dragalevtzi and the complex Havai Hrankov, announced the owner of Hotel chain Hrankov JSC Mr. Plamen Hrankov. Mr. Plamen Hrankov owns 74 per cent of the capital of the chain and the other 26 per cent are divided between 6000 shareholders. Mr. Hrankov intends to construct a new hotel in Albena resort, which will have about 500 rooms.

Albena reports 141 000 spendings the night realized by Bulgarian citizens for the period January-September, 2001. More than 16 000 tourists rested in the resort between July 5 and August 18. The index of the Stock Exchange Sofix fell 2.48 per cent reaching 89.91 points after the shares of the refinery in Bourgas LUKoil Neftochim JSC fell with 14.36 per cent. the brokers sold 40 638 shares of the company for BGN 5.01 average price. Since the beginning of last year the shares of the refinery were purchased for BGN 5.85. The share of Sheraton JSC hotel Sofia rose their price with 2.79 per cent reaching BGN 36.10. In the middle of September these securities were traded at the free market for BGN 35.12 and at block deals their price was between BGN 16.00 and BGN 35.20. The price of the shares of Albena JSC-Balchik rose with 1.45 per cent reaching BGN 7.00. The shares of the major owner of Albena - Albena Invest Holding - Sofia rose with 1.88 per cent reaching BGN 1.63.

At an Extraordinary General Meeting of Albena JSC released from the position of member of the Board of Directors Mrs. Lidia Shuleva. Mrs. Shuleva applied a request for releasing right after she took the position of a Minister of Labour and Social Policy. The General Meeting did not elect a deputy of Mrs. Shuleva and in the Board of Directors remain six people. The resort Albena will freeze entirely its investment programme if the terrorist attacks continue and the situation in the world becomes extremely negative, announced the Executive Director Mr. Krassimir Stanev. The investment programme totally will be stopped for several years too if VAT is introduced on the tourist services as of the beginning of 2002. Albena plans to spend between BGN 20 000 000 and BGN 30 000 000 for the time being for renew of the base for the next season.

Albena resort has to reach a rating of 3.5 stars in the international classification of the tourist establishments for the next three or four years. The rating of the resort at the Black has raised from 2.5 stars during 1997 to 3 three starts. The strategy is the resort to remain a place for relaxation from all kinds of ages and financial opportunities. The expectations for the next season are that 50 per cent of the holiday-makers to be from the German market and the share of the Bulgarian tourists from 10 per cent to reach 11-12 per cent. The third by size tour-operator in Great Britain - First Choice will come to the Bulgarian Black Sea and Albena becomes the base resort for the company.

Albena JSC will construct a holiday village within 2004, announced the Executive Director of the resort Mr. Krassimir Stanev. The company has already bought 110 decares area between the resort and the village of Kranevo. The capacity of the company will be between 200 and 500 beds. In the investment programme of Albena JSC is also envisaged the construction of holiday village in Borovets by 2003. The construction will probably be realized with the touroperator TUI.

These are Alpenwald Touristic Switzerland, Albena, Orbita Hotels 2001, Sgradostroene 2001, BTD Global Tours, Continent, Hotel Lidia, Youth Tourism Bureau-Sputnik Investment Group and Mihail Petkov ST Vratsa. The open bid auction will be held November 12. The initial price is BGN 9,240,000.

Albena JSC won the auction for International Youth Centre Primorsko as well, with a price of BGN 9 240 000, which was the initial price. 30 per cent of the price will be paid in the day the contract is concluded and the rest - with in a month.
