The loss of the state-owned "Varna Port" JSC (Varna) for the last quarter of the previous year was in the amount of BGL 600 million, the new Executive Director of the port Mr. Dimitar Dimitrov reported.

South Corean "Daewoo" demanded from the management of the state-owned "Varna Port" JSC (Varna) an area from port Varna-South to build over it an own transit port for its motors export. It was reported by the Executive Director of "Varna Port" JSC Mr. Dimitar Dimitrov. "Daewoo" exports annualy more than 40,000 motors in the countries from the former Soviet Union.

The sugar plant "Baper Sugar" (Devnya) owes BGL 229 million to Port Varna. The debt of "Agropolychim" JSC to the port amounts to BGL 173 million. "Solvey - Sodi" JSC owes the port BGL 148 million. The total amount of debts of clients of the port is BGL 1,5 billion.

Varna Port owes BGL 1 billion to many companies since the beginning of 1998, said its Director Mr. Dimitar Dimitrov. 70 per cent of the orders are not being executed. Among the ordering companies are "Devnya Tziment", "Solvey Sodi", "Chimko", "Agropolichim".

The Protection of Competition Commission fined "Varna Port" JSC (Varna) by the amount of BGL 5 million. The fee is because of an abuse with a monopoly situation. The port's management did not access private companies to the installation of reprocessing of ships' rubbish.

BGL 1 billion debts were paid by "Varna Port" JSC this year, stated the Executive Director Mr. Dimitar Dimitrov. In the end of 1997 the debts of the company amounted to BGL 1.2 billion. In the period January - October 1998 the commodity circulation decreased by 1 million tones.
