"Varna Port" SPJSC will be equipped with 4 new terminals by the year of 2020, according to the port's general plan that was adopted on February 26 by an expert commission of the Ministry of Transport. The modernization of "Port Varna - Zapad" JSC will be done through foreign capital of USD 26 million, according to the plan. USD 15 million will be invested by the Belgian company "ADPO" in the construction of a chemical terminal. USD 11 million are the planned investments of "Union Minier" and the Italian "Italcemente".

Union Minier Pirdop Med JSC reached an agreement with the German company Oiltanking for establishment of a joint-venture company Oiltanking - Bulgaria JSC to build and exploit a storehouse for liquid products at Varna port. The construction will cost over DEM 13 million.

In 2000 through Varna port will be exported 250 000 - 300 000 t cast iron to Kremikovtzi JSC, declared the Executive Director of the port Mr. Stoyan Schtumpf. The cargo turnover of the port for 1999 increased with 300 000 t. Losses of BGN 1.6 million were spent over the second half of the year. It is expected the profit of the company for the year to be BGN 600 000.
