| American companies have shown interest in the building of the second Dounav bridge at Vidin-Kalafat, was announced by the Minister of Transport of Communications Mr. Antoni Slavinski at his return from Philadelphia yesterday (September 18), where he took part in an international conference about the energetic and transport projects in South-Eastern Europe.. One of those companies is Behtel. American investors have also expressed interest in the building of cargo-terminals at port Varna, Bourgas, as well as in participating in the expansion of Sofia Airport. PA will sign this week a contract with the mediator Deutsche Bank for mediation at the sale of BTC, was meanwhile announced by sources from the working group on the deal. | The Executive Director of Varna port Mr. Stoyan Shtumph declared that the Ministry of Transport and Communications will receive a dividend in amount of BGN 1.2 million. The expected incomes for 2000 are in amount of BGN 32 470 000. Because of the considerable investments in the infrastructure the gross profit will be BGN 4.215 million. This is with 13 per cent more than the financial result in 1999 when it was BGN 880 000. About 30 companies are candidates for cocessions of the 35th quays in Varna port. By the summer of the next year will be finished the construction of quay for liquid chemicals in Varna-west port. | A control system of the traffic is going to start at Varna seaside by March 2001. The project is consulted and partly financed by Holland. After the introduction of the system, the administration will be able to observe all parametres of the in-coming and out-going vessels from Varna bay. | Between BGN 3 million and BGN 3.5 million is the expected gross profit of Varna port for 2000, was reported from the port. The port considerably increased their profits compared to the last year. The cargo turnover of the port raised with about 30 per cent in comparison with the last year. The only one negative side of the company is the double reduced quantities of grain that have been exported this year.
