The vertical gas corridor in our country has become more expensive, and it could absorb another 370 million leva The cost of the construction of the Bulgarian part of the Vertical Gas Corridor and the increase in the capacity of the connections with Greece at Kulata-Sidirokastro and with Romania at Kardam-Negru Voda1 has increased by 20.5 million leva. The Bulgarian route for the transmission of liquefied gas from Greece to Romania and then to Hungary, Slovakia, Moldova and Ukraine is divided into three. On the gas pipeline from Kulata to Kresna and on the Rupcha-Vetrino section, the activities are carried out by separate consortia with the same participants - the Bulgarian "Glavbolgarstroy" and the American "Hill", and the same subcontractors. The route of the pipe from Piperevo to Pernik has been entrusted to a consortium between the American "Divicom" Inc., the Romanian branch of the Austrian "Habau" and the Bulgarian "SA.I.E". At the end of July this year, Bulgartransgaz signed annexes to the contracts with Hill International GBS 1 and Hill International GBS 3 for the Kulata-Kresna and Rupcha-Vetrino sections, respectively, and accepted the 4.4 percent indexation requested by the contractors. GBS is also implementing the fourth part of the Bulgarian route of the international corridor - reversal of the Kardam compressor station for BGN 11.871 million, excluding VAT and without indexations for now. Bulgartransgaz states that it is ready, in the "presence of the relevant commercial interest", to begin additional expansion of the route between Greece and Romania. This will be done with an additional 82 km loop from Kresna to Piperevo, increasing the capacity of the Petrich compressor station and replacing 50 km of gas pipeline. This will cost 184.7 million euros or almost 370 million leva, and the planned date for commissioning is 2029. If such an investment decision is made, the total value of the Vertical Gas Corridor on Bulgarian territory will approach one billion leva, with an initially announced investment of 600 million leva.
