A shake-up at the top has taken place at Avionams AD - Plovdiv. Representatives of the State Consolidation Company /DKK/, whose subsidiary is the aircraft repair plant, notified the management two days ago that there will be a new board of directors. It is expected that the new management board of Avionams will be entered into the Commercial Register within a few days. A month ago, a change was also made in the composition of the Board of Directors of DKK, with the new executive director being Petar Traykov. The workers at Avionams, who currently number over 230 - at the two bases in Plovdiv and Graf Ignatievo, are very worried about whether there will be layoffs under the new circumstances, which they expect, the transition to a 4-hour working day, and whether they will receive their salaries. Over the past year, orders have been reduced, and there have been delays in remuneration. According to data from the National Social Security Institute, the peak of the average annual number of employees there was in 2014. – 318 people, with each subsequent year their number decreasing. Avionams is one of the largest factories for overhaul and servicing of aircraft equipment in Europe, such as various modifications of jet aircraft, fighter jets, helicopters, etc. It was founded in 1939 in Plovdiv under the name “Avioremonten Zavod Terem - Georgi Benkovski”. It was removed from the prohibited list and privatized by “Inkoms-Telecom Holding”, close to the ex-banker Tsvetan Vassilev. One of the factory’s bases is in Plovdiv, and the main one, which is in Graf Ignatievo, was certified according to NATO standards in 2004. In 2017, the state managed to get the factory back after the entry into force of a decree of a private bailiff, which confirmed the announcement of the State Consolidation Company /DKK/ as the buyer of the company’s shares sold at a public sale. A year earlier, 2,090,729 shares owned by Hedge Investment Bulgaria AD were offered for sale, for which DKK paid BGN 28,941,111. In 2019, the state decided that Avionams would maintain the 8 American F-16 fighter jets.
